Lenten Journey
We now find ourselves in the dark and dreary season of Lent. Let us remember that the purpose of this liturgical season is to keep our eyes towards Christ and His Ressurrection which will come at Easter. One of my least favorite things about Lent are the people who feel that they need to compare what they are giving up this year. If you have a spiritual director always get their approval of everything that you do. If you lack one and think it will be best for you to give up a candybar then keep it to your self. The whole world does not need to see that we are doing something out of our love for the Lord. We should also ask ourselves what we want to get out of Lent. Giving up a favorite food is fine, but what do you want to get out of doing that? Maybe each time you feel the urge to eat that food and realize you cannot for it is Lent can be a reminder of something that you need to grow in to better come to Christ at the Easter season. Let us not fear the darkness of Lent, but remember that Christ is still present with us during this awesome season.
